Who we are
Welcome to the forums for the Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin. The Center supports lone soldiers throughout their service in the Israeli Defense Forces. Former lone soldiers volunteer their time to help today's lone soldiers throughout their army service and in the difficult transition back to civilian life. The Center is dedicated in memory of Michael Levin, American-born Israeli paratrooper, who gave his life while defending Israel.
What this site is for
This site is a place where lone soldiers and people interested in helping them can join a community to provide support to lone soldiers throughout their army service and in the hard transition periods into and out of the military.
The Center provides army-related counseling, helps find housing and holds informational sessions for lone soldiers about to join the IDF. The Center makes sure lone soldiers know their rights - for leave overseas, higher pay and support from government ministries.
The Center for Lone Soldiers exists by and large because of the efforts and concerns of discharged lone soldiers for those currently serving as lone soldiers in the IDF. Many lone soldiers struggle with periods of financial and other difficulties, as the army demands so much of their time and focus, leaving them with little time to fend for themselves on their "free" Shabbatot away from the army.
The Center for Lone Soldiers coordinates volunteer efforts, communicates with government offices devoted to Olim issues, and cooperates with Aliyah-related organizations so that no more lone soldiers "slip between the cracks".
The Center is here to help ease the burden and provide information, meals, and support to lone soldiers throughout their army service.
